Gunnedah's Jamie Bush has just experienced one of the most remarkable months of his career as a greyhound trainer.

Bush races predominantly at his local track, and during the month of July he trained 20 winners from 46 starters at Gunnedah.

On July 3 he had runners in four races and won all four, with two of his runners being placed behind two of those winners.

On July 10 Bush had two winners, three seconds and two thirds from 10 starters, then on July 17 he trained four winners, a second and a third, before winning another four races on July 24 along with another second and third. Bush capped the month with a monumental day on July 31. He had nine runners in six races. He won all six events, and also had a second, a fourth and a fifth.

More winners

Another trainer who enjoyed a good 48 hours was David Smith who across that period won nine races.

Smith won five races with his nine starters at Bulli on July 30, then two days later up the Richmond Straight he had runners in five events and won four of those races.

GAP day

While the big event will be the Winter Adoption Day at Sydney's Entertainment Quarter on August 18, the Greyhounds As Pets team in the Northern Rivers will also be hosting an event on August 17.

The day will held at Pets Domain in South Grafton with more than 20 greyhounds looking for loving homes. As always, GAP's dedicated staff will be there to assist with any questions about the pet-ready dogs and adoption process, and all greyhounds are vet checked, wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, de-sexed and come with a lead and collar.

Zoom zoom

The Ladbrokes Zoom Top Maiden has been the launching pad for many successful racing careers and the 2024 edition could be the first step in a promising career.

The winner was the Jodie and Andy Lord trained Joey The Jet who streeted his rivals, winning by 10 and three quarter lengths in a time of 24.30s. For context the track record is held by champion sprinter Wow at 24.18s.

"He's one of those dogs who is a professional and as you saw today, he's pretty good," Andy said after the victory.

Big guns set for MDC

Training couple Michelle Sultana and Darryl Thomas have their sights on another big feature race with the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase fast approaching.

The couple won the Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg back in April with Mackenna and had Group 1 success in the Vic Peters Classic in July with Rinsed The Lot. Now that pair are being aimed at the MDC which begins on August 26 at Maitland.

Mackenna and Rinsed The Lot will contest the Maitland Regional Series with the first three from that final on September 2 advancing to the October 12 MDC semi-finals.
